Elio

A personal AI companion platform — built, run, and used every day by its developer.

What it is

Elio is an independent software project exploring what a long-term AI companion can be: one with persistent memory, a consistent personality, and a real presence in daily life — reading alongside you, keeping a diary, remembering what matters.

It runs as a working product today: a conversational companion on Telegram backed by a memory system, together with a family of companion apps for reading and language learning.

The pieces

Companion core An LLM-driven companion with persistent memory cards, autonomous "wandering" time (reading, writing, journaling), scheduled reminders, and multi-model routing.
Shared reading room A private library where human and AI read the same books and exchange margin annotations — with sync from e-ink readers and a mobile reading app.
Language study tools An Android app for intensive listening practice: video with sentence-level transcripts, tap-to-seek, live highlighting — with pronunciation feedback in the works.

About

Elio is self-funded and built by a solo developer. The stack: Node.js services, Postgres, Kotlin/Compose for Android, and LLM APIs across several providers.
